Words and pictures all dressed up to win your heart

by Jereme

Hi. I do content strategy. Which means:
writing, editorial design, findability, and brand arts. This is what’s new with me...

The Latest

The crappiest word in a content strategist's vocabulary

“Tags” (for a lot of reasons).

Second crappiest: “Keywords” (mostly because of search engine spammers).

About Me

My name is Jereme. (But you already got that part.)

I’m into writing, reading, fine art, not-fine art, advertising, and sometimes movies.

I pay the rent with words + pictures + multimedia + ideas.

I was born and raised in Vermont. Now I live in Chicago, where I work for a Big Digital Agency.

You can get the details in my résumé.

You can also check out the motivation and technology behind this website.

Thanks for stopping by. And thanks for reading.

The social web is my CMS

This site is an expression of my approach to content: publish where the audience is, then curate and editorialize on my own terms.

I could create all my content here. Then I’d have to find audiences — “drive traffic,” like they say.

But those audiences already exist. On Tumblr. On Flickr. On Twitter.
(Other places, too. But you get the idea.)

So instead: I create there, and aggregate here.
Because as much as I want to get in front of people, I also want a digital space that’s my own.

What Makes It Work

This site runs on Google App Engine, using their Python API. Data calls to third-party sites are parsed using simplejson. Much of the presentation layer comes courtesy of jQuery (along with too many plugins to list here... so check the source code). Typographic support is provided by Typekit.

Thank You

Much thanks to Kelani Nichole for advice, enthusiasm, and good ideas.
